Business Communications class discussing program information

The Business Communications Program is NOT a Major OR a Minor. The Business Communications Program is a course that is included in your BBA/BS, MBA, M.Ac, M.Tax, MHA, MSITM, or MS in Finance program.

Writing Across Curriculum (Gordon Rule)
Prerequisites: Junior standing and admission to College of Business
Students learn to think out business decisions through integrated instruction in writing strategies, business, and business reporting techniques in this intensive writing course.

This course will prepare students for the remainder of upper-level business courses that will invariably require presentations and papers.

Graduate:

Communication Strategies for Business Professionals (GEB 6215) 3 credits

Skill enhancement sessions (written, interpersonal and presentational communication skills) and certification; submission and certification of M.B.A. or M.AC. or M.S. in Finance or M.TX. course papers; and observation and certification of students' course presentations. Grading: S/U

GEB 6215 Certification

A graduate-level prerequisite in the flexible program, GEB 6215 Certification strives to ensure all Business Communication efforts in the College of Business are consistent with the AACSB Best Practices. Within three semesters following an “Incomplete” grade in GEB 6215, each student is required to submit and be certified on a professional paper with references and and an oral presentation, each from a core or elective course in the student’s graduate program. Once each of these requirements have been met, the student will be GEB 6215 Certified and will receive an “S” for the course, which is a prerequisite of graduation. The precise details of the GEB Certification will be provided during class.

GEB 6215 will prepare students for the remainder of core courses for their respective graduate program. After this course, students will have three semesters to receive GEB Certification.

Executive:

Communication Strategies for Business Professionals (GEB 6217) 3 credits
Prerequisite: Admission to Weekend or Executive MBA program
This course focuses on a semester-long project linking communication skills (listening, interacting, writing, and presenting) to research and critical thinking skills necessary for a business professional's success. This class is in lieu of GEB 6215 and can only be taken by those in Executive programs.
