Mission of the InstituteCurrently, the InternetCoast Institute serves as a think tank, research center, and information clearinghouse for the high-technology industries in South Florida.
The mission of the Institute is to:
- Be the top academic institution supporting the development of Internet-related information and other technology industries in South Florida, and the InternetCoast organization.
- Be recognized as a premiere national and international high-technology Institute for teaching, conferences, seminars and workshop activities, as well as an originator of research, a repository of data, and a center for workforce development in this field; and through the Adams Center, a provider of IT entrepreneurship and venture capital development.
- Help foster a priority emphasis on information technology among FAU colleges and other units and become the information technology academic focal point in the University; to serve as a bridge among various constituencies, i.e., students, private sector and faculty; and to help obtain additional private and public funds to pursue these goals.
- Work with other FAU units to further the goals of the Institute, such as the DeSantis Center for Motion Picture Industry Studies, the Stuart-James Business Advisory Services, the Small Business Development Center, and the Entrepreneurship Program.
