Workforce Development
The vision of the Workforce Development Office is to be the premiere academic institute providing technology workforce development initiatives and solutions for private corporations and public sector organizations in South Florida.
The Workforce Development Office serves as an interface between organizations in South Florida and various technology programs at Florida Atlantic University. The organizations include both private corporations and public secotor organizations that need individuals skilled in a variety of technologies and trained by one of several units at FAU: The Colleges of Arts & Letters, Business, Engineering, and Science.
The Workforce Development Office serves as an interface by:
- Representing FAU Technology Programs.
- Enhancing and developing student-oriented relationships including Co-ops, Internships, Permanent
Placements, and Graduate Level Research Projects.
- Involved in research and technology transfer activities supporting technology in South Florida.
- Advising students who pursue technology degrees about FAU technology programs and career paths.
- Providing market demand information about technology skills.
- Complementing various College initiatives for career and professional development.
The Workforce Development Office works with employers on various efforts to provide Co-ops, Internships, and Permanent Placements opportunities for technology students in the areas of Computer Arts in Animation, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cryptology, e-Commerce, Electrical Engineering, Graphic Design, Information Security and Management Information Systems. Employers with these needs can arrange for students to work part-time or full-time. The co-op and internship opportunities will differ depending on the type of student required.
The technology skills sought by prospective South Florida employers are rapidly evolving.
