College of Business Faculty Awarded 2012 Excellence in Graduate Mentoring Award

The Graduate College is very pleased to announce the selection of Dr. Eric Chiang and Dr. Jeff Madura as the 2012 recipients of the Excellence in Graduate Mentoring Award.
Dr. Eric Chiang is an associate professor in the Department of Economics and has been a member of the College of Business faculty for 10 years. Dr. Chiang has served as Graduate Director of the Masters in Economics Program for the past five years. He has not only increased enrollment in the program by 600% over the last five years, he has done so while raising admissions standards. Dr. Chiang has guided his students through four peer-reviewed research publications, 11 Ph.D. placements in universities throughout the country and five placements into full-time faculty positions. Dr. Chiang continuously receives stellar teaching evaluations, but more importantly, his graduate students credit him with providing them with life-changing professional advice and guidance both during their time at FAU and well into their careers.
Dr. Jeff Madura is a professor in the Department of Finance and has been a member of the College of Business faculty for 20 years. Dr. Madura has chaired 26 dissertations completed by finance Ph.D. students and is presently chairing two others. He has co-authored 120 journal articles with his Ph.D. students. He is recognized for his dedication and passion for providing his graduate students with a very well-rounded education. Dr. Madura’s former students credit him with having been extremely influential on their professional lives and for being a mentor they will continue to look to for guidance going forward.
