Marketing

Completing a marketing minor complements the coursework in other business majors. Accounting, Finance, Management, and ITOM majors also need to have a general understanding of who their customers are, what they are looking for, and how you properly position a product or service in the competitive marketplace. Knowing how to do these things can make you much more valuable in any organization. Marketing courses included in a marketing minor would include: Marketing Management and then two marketing electives from course offerings such as international marketing, consumer behavior, sales, retailing, and marketing strategy.

Details on a Marketing Minor (the following is an excerpt from the 2011 Course Catalog)

The Marketing minor is designed for non-Marketing Business majors requiring the business core courses. Because part of the requirements include successful completion of the business core classes, the minor is usually not practical for majors in General Economics or Health Administration.

The Marketing minor requires MAR 4803 and two additional upper-division marketing or advertising courses (3000 level or above) with a grade of "C" or better. In cases where MAR 4803 is required for a major, an additional upper-division marketing course is required for the minor.

Courses used for the Marketing minor may not count toward other business major or College core requirements. A minimum of 6 credits must be taken in residence at FAU. The acknowledgment of the minor is official upon successful completion of a College of Business degree program.
