Emergencies, disasters and crises are inevitable. Preparation, response, recovery and mitigation with competently delivered care during and after an event ensure greater resiliency for agencies, facilities, employees, and communities. FAU's International Center for Emergency Management Education (ICEME) delivers unique, hands-on, experiential training with practical application for regional professionals working in emergency management, public safety, public health, first response, emergency medicine, crisis and disaster management.
FAU’s ICEME is a partner with a major international hospital, Chaim Sheba Medical Center, in Israel, offering global expertise in emergency management training. The ICEME is also a point of delivery for FEMA certified courses, as a partner with the National Disaster Preparedness Training Center in Hawaii. The ICEME also collaborates with the International Center for Trauma and Resilience (ICTR) to deliver Mental Health for Trauma and Resilience training, fully online.
The ICEME holds regular networking and informational events for anyone interested in learning more about Emergency Management.
With every emergency or crisis, a multitude of psychological impacts emerge across all demographics for both the public sector and first responder communities. In partnership with the International Collaboration on Trauma and Resilience (ICTR), FAU offers a fully online Mental Health for Trauma and Resilience training program, taught by traumatology and resilience experts. The six-module format delves into the dynamics and neurobiology of trauma and resilience, and the holistic approach; psychological first aid and trauma; pre-, during, and post-crisis resiliency training; spiritual resiliency, and humor first aid; innovative approaches to emotional care and coping; and the “Formation of Band of Brothers/Band of Sisters” for creating and maintaining community resilience and support groups.
The Intensive Emergency Management Training Certificate Program is designed to meet
the expanding, sophisticated training and leadership development needs of South Florida’s
