Master of Tax

United States Founding Father, Benjamin Franklin, once stated, "In this world, nothing can be said for certain, except death and taxes." Taxes are an integral part of our lives as Americans. The best way to stay abreast of all things taxation, is to enroll in the Master of Taxation program at Florida Atlantic University.

The Master of Taxation (MTX) and Master of Accounting (MAC) degree programs share the same goal: to provide accounting education to a diverse group of students to help them become successful professionals in local, national, and global enterprises. The Master of Taxation goal will be accomplished by providing programs that aid students in developing technical, analytical, communication, interpersonal, and lifelong learning skills.

The Master of Taxation degree program was designed to meet the demand for tax specialists in public accounting, private industry, and government. To this end, its objectives include rigorous development of:

  1. Technical competence;
  2. An appreciation of tax policy;
  3. A conceptual understanding of taxation; and
  4. An awareness of the responsibilities of a tax professional in today's society.

The courses of the Master of Taxation program may be used to satisfy education requirements of the CPA and other professional licenses.

The Master of Accounting degree program is selective. Meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee admission to the program. Students who have an undergraduate degree in accounting or other business are are preferable to those who do not have such degrees. Students who have been dismissed from any traditional (non-Executive) MAC or TAX program are not eligible for re-admission.
