Daniel Cornely
Biography
Dan Cornely leads the MBA in Sport Management program at Florida Atlantic University.
Prior to taking over the Sport Management program, he utilized his business athletic
background to lead the Career Services department for all graduate business students
at FAU. He successfully developed a pipeline of outside companies hiring FAU students.
Before his pivot to academia, Dan Cornely was involved in college athletics and sports
marketing. Specifically, holding roles in college football and collegiate athletic
recruiting. For over a decade, he worked in the sports industry with roles at Hanover
College’s (IN) Athletic Department, Florida International University’s Athletic Department,
Defiance College’s (OH) Athletic Department, and Next College Student Athlete (NCSA-Team
Edition). Many notable career highlights included: All-Conference NCAA football player,
NCAA College Football Coach, and athletic recruiting expert who developed a cutting-edge
recruiting platform that helps connect college coaches and potential recruits.
Prior to FAU, he worked as a Director of Partnerships and a Recruiting Specialist
(Football Scout) at Next College Student Athlete (IMG Academy) the largest athletic
recruiting company in the world. This allowed him to develop strategic revenue-generating
partnerships with athletic governing bodies worldwide. During his stint as a college
football coach at Defiance College, he worked as a recruiting coordinator, special
teams coordinator, and coached on the defensive side of the ball.
Dan is passionate about guiding FAU students as they prepare to launch into their
careers in the sport business world. Dan holds a Master of Arts in Education (Coaching
Concentration) from Defiance College and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication (Business
Scholars Program) from Hanover College. At Hanover College, he was an All-Conference
football player and team captain. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. at Florida Atlantic
University in Higher Education Leadership and teaches sport management courses as
an adjunct professor for the College of Business.
