FAU established an International Center for Emergency Management (ICEM), in partnership with The Chaim Sheba Medical Center in Israel (Sheba).  Operated via the FAU College of Business, the ICEM is interdisciplinary and in full collaboration with FAU’s Schmidt College of Medicine, Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing, School of Public Administration, College of Engineering and Computer Science, and the College of Education.

The ICEM encompasses three main components: academics, research, and operations. This comprehensive approach distinguishes FAU by combining a crisis management academic program with a future simulation and unique training facility and field hospital. We will provide the most comprehensive and cutting-edge training and certification programs throughout the year, commuter and residential, taught by subject matter experts from Israel, the Department of Homeland Security, Florida's Division of Emergency Management, and regional experts in emergency, crisis and disaster management. We will also offer degree-level graduate certificate programs and concentrations for MBA and MHA students. Our research will provide much needed answers and solutions to everything from telemed with little to no bandwidth, to developing the latest sensors for drone assistance, to developing products using GPS and other technologies for better patient care during crises. Our field hospital will be deployed during crisis and for humanitarian missions. Our global footprint is firm with our partnership with Sheba. We are setting the stage for growth in students and trainees, research projects, and private/corporate support, which will lead to the building of our simulation/training center and acquisition of field hospitals.
