Biography

Paul Hart retired in October 2024 and is Professor Emeritus at Florida Atlantic University. He joined the faculty of the College of Business in 1990. He served as Chair of the Information Technology and Operations Department, Associate Dean of the College of Business, and Associate Provost. Over 24 years in these administrative roles, his responsibilities included faculty hiring and supervision, research and curriculum development, assessment of programs across colleges, strategic planning, budget and space allocation, and collaborations with university administrators across academic and administrative units on many initiatives of mutual and institutional strategic interest.

His research interests focused on the use and impacts of information technology on individuals and organizations. His articles on information privacy, information security, the use of information systems in support of inter-organizational interdependence, as well as other topics have been published in premier academic journals including Organization Science and Information Systems Review.

His service included roles on many committees at college and university levels, and for eight years he chaired the University Financial Conflict of Interest Committee. He has been a long-time member of the Academy of Management. In 2007 he was program chair of the Organizational Communication and Information Systems Division, which is now called the Division of Communication, Digital Technology, and Organization.

Since 2022 he has participated in the Institute for Academic Leadership. The Institute hosts two workshops each year for new department chairs and other administrations in the Florida State University System.
