Roy Lantz
Biography
Roy has been in human resource management for over 30 years. Most recently, he was the Vice President of Human Resources/Risk Management for the Broward County Housing Authority, a special district of the State of Florida. The Housing Authority was created to address a shortage of safe dwelling accommodations in Broward County, Florida. Currently the Authority serves over 12,000 Broward County residents, assisting them with obtaining affordable rental housing.
Roy’s background includes extensive experience in both the public and private sector. In the public sector he has worked in child welfare and public housing. In his private sector roles, Roy worked in operations management for Interim Health Care (formerly known as Medical Personnel Pool), one of the largest healthcare staffing and home health agencies in the nation. He also was the Vice President of Human Resources for Rexall Sundown, one of the most successful publicly-traded healthcare companies during the 1990’s.
As a management consultant, facilitator, trainer, and medical recruiter, Roy worked with numerous healthcare organizations including CIGNA Corporation, Miami Children’s Hospital (through Nova Southeastern University), the North Broward Hospital District, Pharmerica, The Palace, Christian Homes, American Eldercare, Princeton Radiology Associates, Compassionate Care Hospice, Vitas, and Alterra Corporation.
Roy has also provided consulting services to such prestigious organizations as B. F. Goodrich Aerospace, Doubletree Resorts, American Express, The Florida Panthers, Fidelity Integrated Financial Services, The Miami Heat, Turnberry Associates, Major League Baseball, Hyatt Regency Pier 66, the City of Deerfield Beach, the Village of Wellington, Catholic Charities, and the U.S. Army-Department of Defense.
Roy graduated from Nova Southeastern University (1988) with an M.S. in Human Resource Management specializing in health administration and earned a B.A. in Management and Psychology from Jacksonville University (1978). He has maintained the CCP (Certified Compensation Professional), SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources) designation (Life Certified) and is certified as a Fair Housing Specialist (2016) through the National Center for Housing Management (NCHM). Roy has provided training to hundreds of working professionals as an adjunct instructor for Nova Southeastern University, Barry University, the University of North Florida, Northwood/Keiser University, and Florida Atlantic University.
Roy has been a guest speaker and lecturer for numerous organizations including the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the International Public Management Association for Human Resources (IPMA-HR) the Florida Health Care Association, the Construction Financial Management Association, the Human Resource Association of Palm Beach County (FL), the Human Resources Association of Broward County (FL), Jacksonville SHRM, the Hospitality HR Management Association, and the Association of Legal Administrators.
His past volunteer and leadership roles include serving as: President of the Human Resource Association of Palm Beach County, President of the South Florida Healthcare Human Resources Association, and President of the Human Resource Association of Broward County. He served as Professional Development Chairperson and District Director for the state SHRM-affiliate, HR Florida, and has served on the Board of Directors for the Greater Miami Society for Human Resource Management. Most recently, Roy served on the Board of Directors of the Florida Public Housing Association Self Insurance Fund, supporting over 20 housing authorities throughout Florida.
Roy has been involved with numerous community and charitable organizations including the March of Dimes, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Kids in Distress, ChildNet, SCORE, Urban Youth Impact, and Vanishing Species.
