The Trading Room at Florida Atlantic University's College of Business replicates a real-world trading experience and functions as a classroom and a laboratory.
FAU's College of Business is proud to invest in such a unique and advanced learning environment so that its business students and the business community at large can learn to excel in the financial services industry.
The Trading Room is FAU's first custom furnished multipurpose classroom, seating forty people and showcasing real time feeds from Reuters. The room features an external glass wall to allow the campus community to view the state-of-the-art technology, including a ticker board which displays market data for a variety of stocks, indices, bonds, currencies and commodities.
The strength of Florida Atlantic University's Trading Room is directly correlated with its technology (hardware and software), infrastructure and design which transform the room into a credible simulated trading floor environment. The trading room features various types of trading software applications which incorporate the premier trading analytics and market data platforms used by professional traders, and which combine both academic and real world trading applications.
In addition to the software available in the Trading Room, it also features the latest in audio and video technology to bring the market and trading floor to the classroom.
All seats in the Trading Room are equipped with The Trolley™ E-Class fully-automated monitor lift system from NOVA Solutions, Inc. With the push of a button, you can raise the computer screen from its hidden position beneath the desktop to a comfortable viewing height. Each of seats has a Trolley E-Class automated monitor lift with a 24" widescreen flat panel display. The E-Class features automatic, retractable doors, push button operation, vertical monitor tilt, wire ports for peripherals, and USB Port Extension.
The Trading Room showcases real time feeds from Reuters i, which refreshes 20 times every second. The data are displayed on two 64 block ticker boards – one in the front lobby of the room, and a streaming ticker that runs along the side and back wall
The mission of the Trading Room is to serve business students and the local business community by providing specialized courses, continuing education, executive training and real-time workshops on simulated trading, and other finance-related topics.
