For Credit Internships

Internships are professional learning experiences that offers meaningful, practical work exposure related to a student's field of study or career interest. It also helps students build practical skills, gain industry experience, and become more competitive candidates in the job market after graduation.

Benefits of an Internship

  • Apply classroom knowledge in a professional setting
  • Explore potential career paths
  • Expand your professional network while building your resume
  • Earn academic credit, where applicable

Academic Credit

Many undergraduate and graduate business programs allow internship credit to satisfy degree requirements or elective credits. Students should consult their academic advisor to determine how internship credit may apply to their program.

How to Apply for an Internship Course

Undergraduate and graduate students interested in earning credit for an internship must have an internship secured before submitting an Experience Request in Handshake. Internship course applications are due the semester before the internship takes place (e.g., summer for fall). College of Business major-specific internship courses are not repeatable.
