Sunil Babbar

Biography
He has thrice received the Researcher or Scholar of the Year award of the College
of Business at Florida Atlantic University, most recently in 2023. He has also received
numerous awards for excellence in teaching including the Stewart Distinguished Professorship
Award of FAU’s College of Business in 2007 and the Teaching Excellence Award in 2012
and 2016.
He has published some 37 articles in refereed journals with many of his articles appearing
in leading journals such as Journal of Operations Management, International Journal
of Operations & Production Management, Decision Sciences, Academy of Management Perspectives,
OMEGA, International Journal of Production Economics, and Long Range Planning. He
serves on the editorial boards of a number of journals and is the recipient of the
Best Reviewer Award of the Decision Sciences Journal of Innovative Education for 2010,
2011, and 2015.

Research Interests
- Dr. Babbar's research on managing overtime has received recognition from the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) for its public policy implications. His research in the area of Business Ethics for Quality Management has influenced thinking and shaped much of the section on “Ethical Failure Costs” in the leading Operations Management textbook by Krajewski and Malhotra. His research interests include quality management, service operations, business ethics, international operations, knowledge networks, and institutional rankings.
