Hilton Geartner
Hilton Geartner has been driven to pursue a career in finance since childhood. With the guidance of his father, Hilton opened a fidelity account at just 17 years of age. After graduating high school, Hilton decided that FAU was the ideal college due to its central location to countless booming industries and thus, opportunity. When discussing FAU’s College of Business Finance program, Hilton explained:
“I think the best part about the finance program is that it is broad spectrum and offers a lot of routes. There are a lot of available resources at FAU that allow you to reach out into these industries.”
In addition to working for major banks, Hilton utilized his skills in London, where he interned for one summer. Hilton feels that his London internship gave him a competitive edge by having a first-hand look at international business and finance, while experiencing another culture. Currently, Hilton is an active member of a fraternity at FAU and acts as the treasurer. He handles the finances of the fraternity while also planning fundraisers and philanthropic events with his fraternity brothers. Hilton is working at Morgan Stanley and CG Capital Markets, LLC, while being a full-time student. As a young professional who has accomplished much success, Hilton’s impressive resume and work ethic is guided by his favorite motto:
“Your success, by and large in life, can be determined by the amount of uncomfortable conversations you're willing to have. When you want to ask for a raise or apply for a job, it’s uncomfortable…a lot of the uncomfortable things are what you need to do.”
After graduation, Hilton hopes to work and pursue a career in Finance in a bustling city, like Chicago or New York City.
