Director: Melanie Lorenz, PhD
- Dr. Melanie Lorenz is the Harry T. Mangurian Fellow, Associate Professor of Marketing, and the Director of the Behavioral Insights Lab. She teaches International Marketing at the undergraduate level and the marketing seminar at the doctoral level (Executive PhD). A native of Germany, she earned her PhD in Marketing from the University of Alabama in 2016. Melanie's cross-disciplinary research involving global (services) marketing, frontline employees, innovation and creativity, and global work in MNEs has been published in premier peer-outlets such as Accounting, Organization, and Society (FT50), Journal of Service Research, Journal of World Business, International Marketing Review, International Journal of Research in Marketing, Human Resource Management Journal, Business Ethics Quarterly, Tourism Management, Journal of Travel Research, among others. Her research has also been featured on local and national TV and print outlets.
- Dr. Lorenz has been involved in research and primary data collection (online and in the lab) since her undergraduate studies. She is passionate about building a research space with the Behavioral Insights Lab (BIL) where researchers, instructors and students can thrive, enabling easy access to participants to test ideas, and gain behavioral insights.
- Dr. Lorenz aims to facilitate research in the BIL that aligns with FAU’s mission for research excellence but also serves students, local businesses and the community.
Assistant: Mariana Freire Pratas Palma
- Mariana Pratas is a second-year MBA student and a Graduate Teaching Assistant for the Marketing Department. She assists professors in various undergraduate marketing courses and will serve as the Behavioral Insights Lab Graduate Assistant starting in Spring 2025. In this role, she will manage research studies and oversee the SONA system. Having been involved in developing the program’s website, Mariana is excited to contribute to a well-organized research environment, support student success, and help streamline processes that benefit both students and faculty.
