South Florida is WARM/HOT (depending on your perspective) in June. Daily temperatures will typically exceed 90°F (32°C). We want you to explore the great location, and you won’t want to be walking around wearing a suit or a tie. As such, we fully encourage all attendees to consider this a CASUAL conference. Dress like the locals – meaning bring your shorts, flip-flops, and shades. Please leave your business attire at home!
AIRPORTS AND GROUND TRANSPORTATION
There are three airports to choose from:
- Palm Beach International (PBI) (MOST RECOMMENDED) — Palm Beach International is the best choice to Delray Beach and the conference
location. Once landing at PBI, you can take an 18 mile/29km cab/Uber/Lyft ride from
the airport to the hotel. Taxi, sedan, SUV, and van services are available on-demand
or walk up at the Ground Transportation desk located in the Baggage Claim level, past
carousel 6. Rideshare services pickups are on the outer curb of the third floor Departure
Level. Please look for signs.
- Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) — Fort Lauderdale is the next best choice. FLL is about a 50-minute drive from the
hotel.
Ride-Sharing pickup locations at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) are positioned between terminals 1 & 2 and 3 & 4.
Pick-Up Locations
The designated pick-up area for Ride Sharing is only available on the lower (arrival) level of FLL. Look for the curbside signage for Ride-Sharing with a cell phone image. These pick-up locations are positioned between terminals 1 & 2 and 3 & 4.
Ride-Share is located between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2
Terminal 1: When leaving Terminal 1, turn to the right and follow wayfinding signage
Terminal 2: When leaving Terminal 2, turn to the left and follow wayfinding signage
Ride-Share is located between Terminal 3 and Terminal 4
Terminal 3: When leaving Terminal 3, turn to the right and follow wayfinding signage
Terminal 4: When leaving Terminal 4, turn to the left and follow wayfinding signage - Miami International Airport (MIA) (LEAST RECOMMENDED) — Miami International is over an hour drive from the hotel. Attendees can take the Tri-Rail Commuter trail from the Miami Airport to the Delray Beach station, and then take a cab/Uber/Lyft to the hotel. FERC 2023 will be held at the Opal Grand Oceanfront Resort and Spa in Delray Beach, Florida. This luxury, resort-style hotel offers a newly renovated on-site spa and several outdoor pools for your enjoyment.

Saturday Night Gala Dinner – Best Doctoral Poster (Danny Holt Award, sponsored by Mississippi State University) and Best Posters Awarded (sponsored by Grand Valley State and FAU) will be awarded.
Footsteps from the Atlantic Ocean, this location offers family-friendly beachfront activities and the ability to wander along stylish Atlantic Avenue, host of upscale boutiques, art galleries, bars, restaurants, and nightlife. USA Today has named Atlantic Avenue one of the “10 great American shopping streets.” Charter boats, deep sea fishing, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding and other adventures are located minutes from the conference.
