Online BBA (OBBA) - Hospitality & Tourism Management

Hospitality & Tourism Management

Hospitality & Tourism Management establishes guest service management and customer satisfaction at the center of all business decisions to increase overall customer retention and brand loyalty. FAU’s BBA in Hospitality & Tourism Management students are prepared for management positions in the service industry through the development of technical skills in human resources, financial analytics, revenue management, strategic planning, international business, as well as through practical experience working in-industry prior to graduation.

As a Hospitality & Tourism major, students learn how to:

  • Understand the principles of international trade and economic development
  • Make strategic pricing decisions using revenue management software
  • Anticipate the needs of guests and customize services to fit their needs and desires
  • Recognize the potential for predictive analysis software in influencing guest purchase behaviors
  • Gain technical skill from practical application of course concepts in internship positions

Increasing economic growth, consumer spending, purchasing power and digital innovation have resulted in unprecedented job growth and promotional opportunities in the hospitality and tourism industry. In 2018, the travel and tourism industry accounted for 10.4% of global GDP and 10% of total global employment, generating more than $1.87 trillion in economic output and 9.2 million jobs in the United States alone. The rapid expansion contributed to major job vacancies for both skilled and unskilled work and a favorable job market for college graduates in the U.S. The medium annual wage was $53,785 in February 2020, with the top 10% of hospitality managers earning salaries in excess of $118,500.

Florida Atlantic University offers an AACSB-accredited Hospitality & Tourism Management bachelor's in Business Administration (BBA) the superior choice over either a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BS) offered at more vocational or traditional institutions. Students enrolled in this innovative program gain practical knowledge and real-world experience in networking, negotiation, sustainability planning, decision analysis and public relations and develop managerial competency in marketing, finance, accounting, human resources and IT. Degree completion prepares students for careers in numerous hospitality professions including resorts, restaurants, private clubs, meeting and event planning corporations, destination marketing organizations, cruise lines, casinos, theme parks, sport facilities, entertainment venues, and many more!
