Scholarships

 

The following list of scholarships was created by donations from individuals and organizations for students of the College of Business (COB). The FAU Foundation and the Dean's Office administer the scholarships twice a year for Fall and Spring scholarships.

If selected for a scholarship-students are notified via email.

Students are responsible for checking their emails and meeting deadlines to respond with a thank you note to the donor. Failure to follow this procedure will result forfeiting the scholarship.

Getting Started:

The scholarship application must be filled out by the FAU College of Business student. Students are responsible for filling out the application to the best of their knowledge, providing the correct information (Z#, email), checking their email and meeting deadlines if selected to receive a scholarship and writing a thank you letter to the donor.

Scholarships available to all College of Business students:

Barzilay Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to Broward Community College transfer students enrolled in the College of Business.

The recipient is awarded the scholarship for two years at $500 per semester.

Bok Scholarship in Business

Established by Robert and Diane Bok, both 1980 graduates of FAU.

This scholarship is awarded to students with financial need in the College of Business who demonstrate high academic performance and who are not being considered for any other scholarships.

Business General Scholarships

These scholarships are awarded on an annual basis to provide assistance to students at FAU. These one-time, expendable awards will be made using the following criteria:

  • Awarded to students enrolled in the College of Business at FAU.
  • Minimum 3.2 GPA to be eligible for the award.
  • Recipient must show financial need to be considered.

Dr. William T. Ryan Scholarship Fund

Established in the memory of late FAU Professor, Dr. William T. Ryan, who taught in the College of Business for over thirty years.

Recipients of this award must meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA to be eligible for the award.
  • Must be in good academic standing.
  • Must show financial need.

FAU Business Leader of the Year

These scholarships are dollars raised from the FAU Business Leader of the Year annual event. These scholarships provide assistance to students at FAU. These one-time, expendable awards will be made using the following criteria:

  • Awarded to students enrolled in the College of Business at FAU
  • Minimum 3.25 GPA to be eligible for the award
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities through service.

Florida Grocery Manufacturers’ Representatives Association

  • Applicants must submit an essay based on their interest in the field of consumer packaged goods and the food industry. Recipient chosen by college. Winning essay to be forwarded to Association.
  • Recipient is encouraged to attend at least one FGMRA networking function (the FGMRA may provide funding for student to travel and attend).
  • Full time student; junior or higher.
  • GPA of 3.3 or above and in good standing at the college.

FPL Fund

This scholarship is awarded on an annual basis to a student who is enrolled in the College of Business at FAU. The scholarship shall be awarded to support the student’s tuition and shall be subject to the following conditions

  • Minimum 3.25 GPA to be eligible for the award
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities through service

Frances and Victor Ginsberg Scholarship Fund

Student must demonstrate financial need and will meet the donor on an annual basis.

Greater Boca Raton Estate Planning Council – Michael Gersten Memorial Scholarship

The scholarship is awarded to a full-time undergraduate or graduate student that is receiving no other scholarship or financial assistance.

Haychel Gomez Melli & Patrick Melli Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a student enrolled in the College of Business and is based on academic merit (a minimum 3.0 GPA) and financial need.

Preference is given to Latin women living in Dade, Broward or Palm Beach counties.

JM Family Enterprises, Inc. Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded for one academic year to a full time student that is in the College of Business. The recipient of the scholarship shall be determined based on merit, having a minimum GPA of 3.0 and verifiable financial need, with no reference to race, color, religion, age, gender, sexual orientation, national origin or handicap.

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA to be eligible for the award
  • Demonstrate verifiable financial need
  • Must be a full-time student

Juanita Brown Scholarship

Established in 2000 by Stanley Brown and friends, in memory and honor of Dr. Juanita Brown, a professor of marketing.

This scholarship is awarded to degree-seeking students in the College of Business who have a minimum of a 3.25 GPA.

Katz General Scholarship

Established by retired FAU professor Dr. Alvin Katz and his wife, Lenore.

This annual award is presented to College of Business students who are single parents and demonstrate excellent academic achievement and financial need.

Robert M. and Nadine A. Fitzgerald Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to College of Business students who are part or full-time students and have a GPA of 3.8 or higher.

Rose Memorial Scholarship

Established by Mrs. Charles Rose in memory of her husband, this scholarship is awarded to outstanding students in the College of Business.

Students must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.

State Farm Insurance Companies Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to students who have completed a Risk Management & Insurance Certificate and...

  • Full-time juniors or seniors
  • Minimum 3.5 or above GPA to be eligible for the award
  • Interested in a career path in the insurance industry

Virginia and Douglas Stewart Business Scholarship

This scholarship was created to provide scholarships to students in the College of Business in memory of Douglas E. Stewart and Virginia E. Stewart and in appreciation of Professor Gary A. Luing.

Students applying for this scholarship need ot have a 2.5 GPA or higher, demonstrate financial aid, commitment to community service and be of Afro-American decent.

William E. Pollier Scholarship

Established in 1987 by Mrs. B.B. Pollier in honor and memory of her son, William, a former FAU staff member.

The award is given to an outstanding, graduating senior enrolled in the College of Business who will continue as a full-time student in a master’s program.

W.S. Brown Scholarship

Criteria: Students that have declared Real Estate as their minor. Documentation will be required.

Business Ethics Scholarships

Edward E. Shoaf Ethics Scholarship

Established by Hilda Krinzman, this scholarship is awarded to full-time students who have completed a course in Business Law or Advanced Business Law or a course studying the ethical environment of business. The recipient of this scholarship shall be determined in accordance with the following criteria:

  • Minimum 2.5 or above GPA to be eligible for this award.
  • must demonstrate financial need
  • show community service
  • recipient must have completed BUL 4442 (Ethical Environment of Business Law) or equivalent

Hilda A. Krinzman Ethics Scholarship

Established by Hilda Krinzman, this scholarship is awarded to full-time students who have completed a course in Business Law or Advanced Business Law or a course studying the ethical environment of business. The recipient of this scholarship shall be determined in accordance with the following criteria:

  • Minimum 2.5 or above GPA to be eligible for this award.
  • must demonstrate financial need
  • show community service
  • recipient must have completed BUL 4442 (Ethical Environment of Business Law) or equivalent

Lee J. and Esther S. Steindel Ethics Scholarship

This business ethics scholarship was established from the estate of the Steindels in 2000. Scholarships are awarded to full-time students with demonstrated financial need. The recipient of this scholarship shall be determined in accordance with the following criteria:

  • Minimum 2.5 or above GPA to be eligible for this award.
  • must demonstrate financial need
  • show community service
  • recipient must have completed BUL 4442 (Ethical Environment of Business Law) or equivalent

Mildred A. Becker Ethics Scholarship

Established by the estate of Mildred A. Becker to help a full-time student in the College of Business.

Recipient must be a U.S. citizen, show financial need and have high academic standards.

Applicant must have completed the three-credit Business Law course or an equivalent and also be involved in community service.

Virginia and Douglas Stewart Business Ethics Scholarship

Established in 2000 by the Virginia and Douglas Stewart Trust. Scholarships are awarded to full-time students with demonstrated financial need.

The recipient of this scholarship shall be determined in accordance with the following criteria:

  • Minimum 2.5 or above GPA to be eligible for this award.
  • must demonstrate financial need
  • show community service
  • recipient must have completed BUL 4442 (Ethical Environment of Business Law) or equivalent

Welcom H. Watson Ethics Scholarship

Established by friends in honor of “Hank” Watson and awarded to full-time students enrolled in the College of Business. The recipient(s) of this scholarship shall be determined in accordance with the following criteria:

  • Minimum 2.5 or above GPA to be eligible for this award.
  • Broward County resident
  • must demonstrate financial need
  • show community service
  • recipient must have completed BUL 4442 (Ethical Environment of Business Law) or equivalent

Economics Department Scholarships

The Economics Department has a limited number of awards available depending on funds availability. The following are the more frequently awarded scholarships. Students are nominated by faculty in the department.

Maale, Feuerlein & Redman Award in Economics

This fund was created to honor faculty members Aileen D. Maale, Willy J. Feuerlein and Milton B. Redman and is awarded to exceptional students studying economic principles. The recipient(s) of this scholarship shall be determined in accordance with the following criteria:

  • Minimum 3.4 or above GPA to be eligible for the award
  • Completed at least 40 upper division credits

Management & Entrepreneurial Studies Scholarships

H. John Bernardin Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a student who has a GPA of 3.5 and above. The recipient must be at least a Junior, demonstrate financial need and must be a full time student in Management. $500 is available per successful applicant.

In Good Company Scholarship Fund

Eligible full time undergraduate or graduate students:

  • Currently involved in community service
  • Minimum 3.0 or above GPA to be eligible for the award
  • Enrolled in entrepreneurship class

Louis J. Prenner Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a student who has a minimum 3.0 GPA and an emphasis in entrepreneurial studiesInvolvement in extracurricular activities will be considered.

Suheyla Gencsoy Spirit of Freedom Scholarship

This scholarship is for students who are majoring in International Business and meet the following criteria:

  • Interest in Turkish studies
  • Graduated from an American or Turkish High School
  • Fluent in English
  • 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Verifiable financial need
  • Provide 3 recommendation letters

Health Administration Scholarships

Dr. Robert Hays Memorial Scholarship

Established by Lynn and Betty Hays in memory of their husband and son, this scholarship is awarded to support undergraduate and graduate students majoring in Health Administration. The recipient of this scholarship shall be determined in accordance with the following criteria:

  • Minimum of nine credit hours
  • Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Employed at least 10 hours per week

Gerontology Certificate Scholarship

This scholarship is for the Gerontology certificate program. In order to qualify for the scholarship, students must:

  • Completed and satisfactorily completed one course in this program
  • Proof of financial need
  • Provide documentation showing career path is towards gerontology

North Broward Hospital District Scholarship Endowment

This scholarship is awarded to a student who is majoring in Health Administration.

  • Students must have a 3.0 GPA or higher

Hospitality Management Scholarships

The Heiko Dobrikow Family Schoalrship Fund

Awarded to Hospitality major students who:

  • GPA is at least a 3.25 or higher
  • Full time student (undergraduate 12 credits or more/ graduate 9 credits or more)
  • Recipient of scholarship must attend a hospitality event in the Fall semester to receive recognition and sit with donor

Information Technology & Operations Management Scholarships

Supply Chain Management Educational Scholarship

Students must meet the following criteria to be eligible for this scholarship:

  • Minimum 3.0 or above GPA to be eligible
  • Business major with a minor in Operations Management with emphasis on supply chain management
  • must demonstrate financial need

Marketing Department Scholarships

Bernard & Molly Kozel Scholarship

The award is given to a student enrolled in the College of Business who is interested in marketing. Preference is given to female students.

Minto Communications Scholarship

Established in 2006 by Minto Communities, Inc. to annually provide scholarships to part time or full time students enrolled in marketing.

The recipient of this scholarship shall be determined in accordance with the following criteria:

  • Minimum 3.0 or above GPA to be eligible
  • Florida resident
  • Junior or Senior Status
  • Verifiable financial aid

Zimmerman Scholarship Fund

Awarded to marketing students that meet this criteria:

  • GPA of 3.25 or above
  • Must demonstrate leadership qualities through service
  • Expected to demonstrate excellence in attendance and provide letter of recommendation from FAU faculty indicating excellent class attendance

School of Accounting Scholarships

Barbara L. and Harrison Newman Scholarship

Established in 1984 by Harrison Newman.

This scholarship is awarded to full time students with financial need who are in their fifth year of studies in the College of Business School of Accounting.

FICPA Broward Chapter Scholarship

Criteria: Live or work in Broward County, must be a junior or above as an accounting major, selection based on academic achievement with consideration for extracurricular activities, including employment or service in the accounting profession.

Henri de Roche Memorial Scholarship

Minimum 3.5 Overall GPA. In Senior year or above in accounting major. Preference given to students with the highest Overall GPA, with secondary consideration for involvement in School of Accounting organizations and activities.

Ken P. Hoffman Memorial Scholarship

Minimum 3.0 Overall GPA. In Junior year or above in accounting major. Full-time student. Must be a member of the Accounting Students Association (ASA).

Preference given to ASA Officers.

Paul Zelenkofske Accounting Scholarship

Funds Distributed: Into the student's FAU account usually within three months after the application deadline.

Criteria: In the 3rd, 4th, or 5th year of accounting degree. Preference given to non-traditional older students who are working to support themselves. Must have unmet financial need as determined by the FAU Office of Student Financial Aid.
