Kyle and Manny

Two College of Business alumni and innovators got the chance to connect at a South Florida technology conference in Miami this spring.

Kyle Lansing, one of the co-founders of a sustainability company, connected with influential South Florida leader, innovator, and College of Business alumnus Manuel Medina at the 10th annual eMerge.

"It was a wonderful opportunity to connect and see the emerging technologies being created," Lansing said. "The entire conference was a wonderful opportunity."

Founded by Medina ‘74, eMerge, a 10th annual global tech conference and expo, brought together business leaders, industry innovators, and emerging entrepreneurs to engage in workshops, exhibits, and speeches on the latest trends and technologies.

The conference and expo also provided an opportunity for guidance and mentorship from one business innovator to another.

Strawfish, started by Lansing '20 and his two business partners, Aaron Kleinert, and Tomer Bitton, in 2019, offers an environmentally friendly alternative to single-use plastics: affordable, biodegradable straws made from seashells.  Lansing and his partners have been recognized by Forbes 30 Under 30- Social Impact as founders of a company “leveraging business smarts to save the world.”
