Inaugural Golf Classic

Organizers of FAU College of Business’ Inaugural Golf Classic at Broken Sound Club say they expect the event to launch a new tradition of connecting alumni and local businesses while raising money for student scholarships and experiential learning opportunities.

“Our goal is to make this a premier tournament” said Daniel Gropper, Ph.D., dean of FAU’s College of Business. “We enjoyed seeing everyone come out and have a good time.”

The Oct. 26 event supported student success at the College of Business. Two foursomes tied for first place in the 18-hole scramble: Matt Wentzel, Jeremy Saroza, Nani Chlimper and Carlos Lara from Coastal Waste & Recycling and Chris Cole, Matt Prager, Don Wright and Johnny Kahn from FAU Executive Education.

Third place went to NextEra Energy’s Charles Walsh, Scott Bishop, Joseph Fenimore and Glenn Vincent.

FAU Alumni’s Marcus Schnellenberger and Katie Burke took top honors respectively in the men’s and women’s Closet to Pin contest. FAU Athletics’ Ryan Gallan won the men’s Longest Drive contest, while Stacy Pedersen of Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa won the women’s competition.

Broken Sound Club, the Inaugural Sponsor and Premier Host for the event, has a long-standing partnership and recruiting relationship with FAU's Hospitality & Tourism Management Program.
