eMerge2026

Florida Atlantic University showcased its vision as a premier research institution at eMerge Americas, Miami's leading tech and innovation conference.

Under this year's theme "Where Tomorrow Begins," FAU's booth brought together the College of Business, the College of Engineering and Computer Science, the College of Medicine and the Research Park at Florida Atlantic, each highlighting a different facet of the university's innovation ecosystem.

"eMerge Americas is a testament to the years of of transformational work by Manny and Melissa Medina, and we were proud to be part of it alongside our colleagues in Medicine and Engineering and Research Park," said Daniel Gropper, Ph.D., dean of FAU's College of Business. "FAU is committed to helping grow and strengthen South Florida's tech ecosystem for years to come."

A centerpiece of the booth was the quantum computer set to arrive on FAU's Boca Raton campus through a new partnership with D-Wave Quantum Inc. (NYSE: QBTS). The Advantage2 system, expected to be deployed later this year, will anchor a collaboration aimed at advancing quantum computing education, research and applied innovation in Florida. D-Wave is the only dual-platform quantum computing company, offering both annealing and gate-model systems, software and services.

FAU President Adam Hasner and Gropper were among the attendees, as was Manny Medina, a College of Business alumnus and South Florida tech innovator, entrepreneur and investor, and Melissa Medina, CEO of eMerge Americas. Also in attendance were Stella Batalama, Ph.D., dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science; Lewis Nelson, M.D., Dean and Chief of Health Affairs at the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine; Andrew Duffel, president of Research Park; and Kevin Cox, Ph.D., director of the Florida Atlantic Entrepreneurship Institute.

The eMerge Americas annual conference connects investors, innovators, entrepreneurs and industry leaders from around the world for a two-day event featuring panels, talks and showcases on the future of technology. As South Florida continues to emerge as a rising tech hub, this year's programming centered on climate tech, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, financial technology and more.
