Technical Support for Fully Online Classes
If you you're wondering what it will be like to take a Fully Online class at FAU, we've prepared a video that gives a brief overview of what you will experience with Canvas - our learning management platform. In this video, Henry Dominguez gives a brief overview of what you can expect with Canvas (canvas.fau.edu).
Henry shows you how to navigate the Canvas Dashboard, go through each of your classes to find important information like your course syllabus, schedule, announcements, and professor's contact information and office hours. Then he takes you through some of the main Account Settings to review, and he shows you were to go to make sure that you get notified of important messages related to your classes. As you can see, Canvas is a user-friendly platform that makes it easy for you to upload assignments, participate in discussions, and converse with your fellow students.
There are ample opportunities to get support. Because Canvas is a cloud-based platform, the help representatives have access to what courses you're in and can navigate to where you're having a problem. This means they can see the problem you're facing - you don't have to try to explain it to them. When you need support, your quickest option is through rapid chat support. If you can't be on chat, Canvas gives you the ability to send a question in to the support team. The Canvas support team will reply via email so that you can pick up right where you left off the next time you're logged in.
As Henry mentions in this video, you can always contact the FAU Helpdesk (helpdesk.fau.edu) or via telephone at (561) 297-3999 if you have other technical issues like trouble accessing resources, or need help with logging in and password resets.
