MAN6943: For Graduate Business Majors
This course is open to ALL College of Business students who have space for an elective course.
Requirements
To be eligible for the course, you must:
- Obtain an internship that lasts the complete semester. The internship must be secured before applying.
- Be fully admitted into the College of Business (declared major).
- Have a 2.5 GPA or higher.
- Be a Junior, Senior, or Graduate student.
- Have passed MAN 3025 and 2 additional 3000 or 4000 level Business courses (undergraduate only)
- Non Management majors must have available upper division business elective (UDBE) credits or free elective credits (undergraduate only)
Internship Requirements
- Internships must be at an organization for which the student is not currently working.
- If the student obtains aninternship in another department at current employer, significant learning opportunities must exist.
- Internships must be the length of the semester (13-16 weeks)
- Student Interns cannot be managed by relatives
- Internship credit is based on the following criteria:
- 1 credit = 8 -11 hours per week
- 2 credits = 12 -17 hours per week
- 3 credits = 18-25 hours per week (recommended)
- 4 credits = 25+ hours per week
To begin the registration process, you will submit an experience request on Handshake:
- Go to https://fau.joinhandshake.com/login.
- Login to your account in Handshake with your FAU Net ID and password.
- Click on the Career Center tab and select "Experiences."
- Select "Submit an Experience." (This is where you will report your internship.)
- Select "Management Internship Course" from the experience template drop down menu.
- Complete all the information on the experience request fully – missing sections of the application or paperwork will hold the approval process.
- Make sure to attach the following supplemental paperwork to your Handshake request:
- Copy of your Current Resume
- Internship Offer Letter on company letterhead and MUST include the following information:
- Name and contact information for the Company.
- Start and End dates for the internship.
- Number of expected hours per week
- Copy of Degree Audit
Learning Objectives
You must provide three (3) learning objectives on the application – these are to be written in full sentences and explain what you will learn during this internship.
Application Deadlines
Spring 2024: Due January 2, 2024
Summer 2024: Due April 29, 2024
Fall 2024: Due August 5, 2024
