Real estate is intertwined culturally and economically with our daily lives. It impacts consumers across a range of issues, including buy versus rent, understanding housing cycles and broker incentives, and even determining the shape and size of our cities. Florida’s economy is particularly real estate dependent. We are constantly evaluating our affordable housing stock, commercial development, Everglades infringement, population growth, sea level rise, and international investment in properties, among other concerns. These continuously shifting dynamics point to the need for a central producer and distributor of critical and practical real estate knowledge and current information to enhance future real estate decision making. The purpose of the FAU Real Estate Initiative is to serve as an open-source provider of this knowledge and information.
