Meet Our Behavioral Insights Experts

Gia Nardini

  • Dr. Nardini studies consumer wellbeing in the domains of consumption, decision making, and societal impact using experiments. She is excited to use the Behavioral Insights Lab to further develop key insights related to consumer wellbeing. Her experience with experimental design and survey software allows her to contribute to the optimal functioning of our Behavioral Insights Lab.

Ye Zhang

  • Dr. Ye Zhang is an Associate Professor in the Hospitality and Tourism Management Program within the Department of Marketing. Her research primarily focuses on designing customer and employee experiences and decision nudges to enhance well-being and promote societal good, as well as conducting complex systems analysis to better understand and improve the evolving tourism and hospitality ecosystem.
  • Dr. Zhang plans to use the Behavioral Insights Lab for pre-testing and lab-based testing of innovative interventions that enhance customer and employee experiences. Her contributions will include: 1) offering her classes as a sample pool to support recruitment efforts and 2) applying her expertise to set up and optimize experimental technologies, such as VR, eye-tracking systems, and physiological measurement tools. She is excited about the lab’s potential to enable multi-modal experiments and foster impactful collaborations with industry partners, driving advancements in research and practice.

Max Ostinelli:

  • Dr. Ostinelli is a consumer behavior researcher interested in understanding the psychological processes that shape consumers’ judgments and decisions. His work focuses on two key areas: the role of linguistics in communication and consumers’ interactions with AI.
  • Ostinelli plans to use the Behavioral Insights Lab to study how psychological processes influence consumer decisions, informing better marketing and policy strategies. He is excited to collaborate with BIL’s interdisciplinary teams to bridge theory and practice.

Anil Bilgihan: 

  • Dr. Bilgihan holds the Harry T. Mangurian Professorship at Florida Atlantic University, where he focuses on the intersection of technology, service, and marketing within the hospitality industry. His research primarily explores how artificial intelligence and digital innovations influence consumer behavior and decision-making processes.
  • Anil is looking forward to utilizing the Behavioral Insights Lab to further investigate the impact of emergent technologies on service excellence and customer engagement within hospitality contexts. His primary interest in utilizing the BIL revolves around harnessing its capabilities for data collection through surveys and experiments. He plans to design and deploy structured surveys to gather actionable insights into customer attitudes towards emerging technologies. These surveys will be instrumental in understanding the effects of AI and digital marketing on customer satisfaction and engagement. Dr. Bilgihan’s expertise in online marketing and AI-driven decision-making will contribute to the BIL by developing frameworks that integrate technological advancements with strategic marketing and service management. He is particularly excited about collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to explore innovative solutions that enhance customer experiences and business performance.

Soyoung Park:

  • Soyoung Park, Ph.D. is an assistant professor in the Hospitality and Tourism Management Program and an affiliate faculty member at the Peace, Justice, and Human Rights Initiative Center. Her research utilizes data analytics and econometrics to investigate social issues in tourism and hospitality, particularly those regarding underrecognized populations.
  • Dr. Soyoung Park plans to use the Behavioral Insights Lab to explore innovative approaches to understanding travelers' behavioral and psychological decision-making processes to create robust and resilient tourism. With her interdisciplinary background and expertise in data-driven research, she is excited to collaborate with researchers and industry experts at the BIL to develop practical solutions and expand academic knowledge.

Michael Harari:

  • Michael (Mike) Harari's research deals broadly with how people experience their work and careers and how these experiences affect their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. His work often incorporates personality theory and meta-analytic research methods.
  • Collecting valid survey data is absolutely critical, but how to best administer surveys to collect meaningful data is not well understood. I hope to contribute to this body of work through my involvement in the Behavioral Insights Lab. I am excited about the role that the Behavioral Insights Lab can play in getting more students involved in the research process.
