🦉Presidential Search:

To the Florida Atlantic community,

Florida Atlantic University will host a series of public forums by the three final applicants for the presidency on the following dates:

  • Monday, Feb. 3 – Michael Hartline, Ph.D.
  • Thursday, Feb. 6 – John Volin, Ph.D.
  • Friday, Feb. 7 – The Honorable Adam Hasner, J.D.

The schedule of forums will be the same on each day:

Davie Campus

Location: Liberal Arts (LA) 120

  • 9 – 10 a.m. – Open Forum for Broward Campuses

Boca Raton Campus

Location: Majestic Palm Room, Student Union

  • 11:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. – Open Forum for Faculty
  • 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. – Open Forum for Students
  • 1:45 – 2:45 p.m. – Open Forum for Staff, Donors and Community Members

John D. MacArthur (Jupiter) Campus

Location: Student Resources (SR) 149

  • 6 – 7 p.m. – Open Forum for Northern Campuses

The Florida Atlantic University Board of Trustees (BOT) will interview the final applicants on Monday, Feb. 10, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the Dr. Jeffrey P. and Barbara S. Feingold Board of Trustees Room in the Kenneth R. Williams Administration Building on the Boca Raton campus.

The forums are open to all members of the public and audience participation will be encouraged. However, the subject matters that the applicants will discuss at each forum will relate primarily to the groups identified in the schedule. The forums and final interviews will also be available to watch via Zoom on the BOT remote meetings channel on the BOT website: www.fau.edu/bot.

The final applicants’ curricula vitae are available on the Presidential Search website: www.fau.edu/presidential-search.

✍️Service Awards:

Call for Nominations - 2025 Employee Service Awards
Nominations are now being accepted for three significant annual employee awards: Presidents Leadership Award, Gabor Exemplary Award, and iTHINK Financial Customer Service Award. The deadline to submit nominations is Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 5 p.m.

Award winners will be honored at the Annual Employee Service Awards ceremony on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. 


Recognitions

Congratulations to Bill Bosshardt on being selected to receive the Bonnie T. Meszaros Curriculum Leadership Award this March. This prestigious honor, awarded by the National Association of Economic Educators, recognizes outstanding leadership and innovation in economic education. Bill's dedication to developing and implementing effective curriculum has made a significant impact on students and educators alike. His commitment to excellence and passion for economic education are truly commendable. We are proud to celebrate this well-deserved recognition of his hard work and contributions to the field.

Bonnie T. Meszaros Curriculum Leadership Award

The Bonnie T. Meszaros Curriculum Leadership Award is presented to an economic educator who has been especially successful in developing a K–12 economics curriculum. In a career spanning nearly 50 years, Bonnie Meszaros, wrote, edited, and led the development of hundreds of lessons used extensively by educators nationwide. She generously shared her time and expertise to champion the network’s active-learning lesson model while training, developing, and mentoring countless economics lesson writers across the United States and abroad.


Congratulations to Bryan Cutsinger on your recent appointment as an Associate Editor of the Public Choice Journal. This prestigious role is a testament to your significant contributions to the field of public choice and your dedication to advancing economic research. Your expertise and leadership will undoubtedly bring valuable insights to the journal and its readership. We look forward to seeing the impact you will make in this new position.


On February 20th, the Jim Moran College of Entrepreneurship and the Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship at Florida State University will present awards at the Florida Senate in Tallahassee during the legislative session. This event is a significant occasion, highlighting the achievements and contributions of our esteemed colleagues.

Two of our outstanding colleagues will receive state-wide recognition for their exceptional work. Kevin Cox will be awarded the 2025 State of Florida Entrepreneurship Educator of the Year, acknowledging his dedication to fostering entrepreneurial spirit and education. Robert Reardon will receive the 2025 State of Florida Ph.D. Student Researcher of the Year, honoring his innovative research and academic excellence.

Additionally, three faculty members, Mark Packard, Don Neubaum, and Siri Terjesen, will be recognized for their top research papers. Their work has made a substantial impact in their respective fields, and this recognition is a testament to their hard work and scholarly contributions.

Congratulations to everyone being recognized! Your achievements bring great pride to our institution and inspire us all to strive for excellence.

Anna Agapova, Associate Professor, Finance Department, with co-authors, have had their paper titled “ETFs and the price volatility of underlying bonds,” published in the Financial Review.

Jian Cao, Associate Professor, School of Accounting, and Mingxiang Li, Professor, Management Programs, with co-authors, have had their paper titled “Accounting backgrounds and technological innovation: Are accountant CEOs inferior innovators?,” accepted for publication in a special issue on strategic leadership & radical innovation in Research Policy, Volume 54, Issue 3, 2025.

William Luther, Associate Professor, and Bryan Cutsinger, Assistant Professor, Economics Department, have had their paper titled “Symposium introduction: Reviewing the Federal Reserve's framework,” published in the Southern Economic Journal.
