Graduation Statistics
High Salaries
The excellent career opportunities for people with backgrounds in Management Information Systems translates into high salaries and significant internship opportunities for our MIS students. The Institutional Effectiveness & Analysis department at FAU collects a wide range of data about all FAU students and graduates. Importantly, they have been collecting salary data about all FAU graduates. When looking at the different majors in the College of Business, our MIS graduates consistently earn the highest median salaries one year after graduation, even higher than Accounting and Finance graduates.
- MIS graduates from 2012-2013 earned $45,704 one year after graduation
- MIS graduates from 2013-2014 earned $47,268 one year after graduation
Abundant Internship Opportunities
FAU students majoring in Management Information Systems have many opportunities throughout the year to pursue internship opportunities, which allows them to gain valuable "real world" experience prior to entering the workforce full time. Landing an internship is not a requirement of the MIS major, but we do offer an internship for credit course that many students take advantage of. In addition to the salary statistics collected by the Institutional Effectiveness & Analysis department at FAU, the percentage of undergraduate students in each department who graduate with internship credit is also collected. Our department, Information Technology and Operations Management, has the highest percentage of students graduating with internship credit in the College of Business (excluding the Management Programs department, because students majoring in Hospitality Management are required to take an internship for credit course in order to graduate):
- 2012-2013: 12.77% of MIS graduates earned credit for internships
- 2013-2014: 20.37% of MIS graduates earned credit for internships
- 2014-2014: 20.00% of MIS graduates earned credit for internships
