Why should you consider the Marketing PhD program at FAU?
#1 You will work with stellar faculty. They have PhDs from top-tier public and private universities, e.g., the University of Michigan, the University of Florida, Duke University, the Ohio State University, Indiana University, the University of Alabama, and Pennsylvania State University. They have published papers in top-tier academic journals, including the Journal of Marketing, the Journal of Marketing Research, the Journal of Consumer Psychology, the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, and Management Science. They serve on the editorial boards of top-tier academic journals, such as the Journal of Consumer Research, the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, the Journal of Retailing, and the Journal of Service Research.
#2 You will receive excellent training and mentorship. FAU offers a rich set of doctoral courses covering Marketing courses, methods-related courses (e.g., from Economics and Psychology), teaching-related courses, etc. You will also learn via exposure to external faculty who visit FAU each year to present their research. Further, the FAU Marketing faculty outnumber PhD students, allowing for strong mentorship and ample 1-on-1 time.
#3 You will receive a $38,000 annual stipend, guaranteed for 5 years (subject to satisfactory performance). This compares well with peer PhD programs.
What happens after the PhD?
The expectation is that after completing their PhD, PhD students will seek a suitable
academic position, typically as an Assistant Professor at a peer university. The academic
job market is robust and can offer both a fulfilling career and the chance to have
a good lifestyle. Starting salaries average $150,000 for 9 months in 2024.
