Overview of Admissions Requirements

1. Must be a current FAU students pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) or Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree program with a major in Management Information Systems

2. Have a cumulative undergraduate FAU GPA of 3.25 or better at the end of their junior year.

    • Note that the cumulative FAU GPA of at least 3.25 must be maintained until the completion of the Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) or Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in the Management Information Systems degree program

3. Have a GPA of 3.25 or better at the end of their junior year in their Information Technology Path Courses

    • ISM 3011 - Management Information Systems
    • ISM 3230 - Introduction to Computer Systems and Software Development
    • ISM 4220 - Business Data Communications
    • ISM 4212 - Database Management Systems
    • ISM 4133 - Advanced Systems Analysis and Design (or the graduate equivalent course ISM 6123)

4. Formally apply to the combined program, completing the admissions process at least one semester prior to the beginning of the M.S. in Information Technology and Management portion of their program.

5. Once admitted to the program, students begin taking graduate courses (5000/6000 level courses) in their senior year that would apply to both the bachelor’s and master’s degree programs.

    • Students in the combined program must maintain continuous enrollment, in full-time status, during  their bachelor’s degree to remain in the combined program.
    • Once students are admitted to the M.S. in Information Technology and Management program, they must maintain continuous enrollment to remain in good standing.
    • Students must also meet all of the degree requirements of the graduate program.

What If I Don’t Meet All of the Admissions Requirements for the Combined Program?

  • Please speak to our designated College of Business Academic Advisor for the combined MIS to MSITM program, Gili Rabone, grabone@fau.edu, 561-297-4521
  • If you speak with Gili but you are still not eligible, you can can always apply to graduate school by taking the GMAT/GRE and going through the traditional MSITM program admission process.

How Do I Apply?

Step 1. Meet With Our Designated College of Business Advisors for the Combined MIS to MSITM Program 

  • First, make an appointment with Gili Rabone in the College of Business Undergraduate Advising Office grabone@fau.edu, 561-297-4521.
    • Gili is the designated advisor for the Combined MIS to MSITM Program and understands the details of this program combined with the general BBA/BS program requirements.
    • Gili will review your current undergraduate coursework and help you plan which courses to take in future terms so that you can meet the application requirements for the Combined MIS to MSITM Program.
  • Second, after meeting with Gili, make an appointment with Michelle Williams in the College of Business Graduate Advising Office williamsmich2012@fau.edu, 561-297-1314.
    • Michelle is the designated graduate advisor for the Combined MIS to MSITM Program and she will help you understand the application steps and required forms to apply to the program.
    • Michelle will review your current undergraduate coursework and help you plan which courses to take in future terms so that you can meet the application requirements for the Combined MIS to MSITM Program.

Step 2. Complete the Courses Below

  • You must have:
    • A Cumulative Undergraduate FAU GPA of 3.25 or better 
    • An Information Technology GPA of 3.25 or better
Prerequisites for Admission to Combined Program (Preferably before Junior Year)
Management Information Systems  ISM 3011
Introduction to Computer Systems and Software Development  ISM 3230
Business Data Communications  ISM 4220
Database Management Systems  ISM 4212
Advanced Systems Analysis and Design  ISM 4133 (or the graduate equivalent course ISM 6123)

 

Step 3. Formally Apply to the Combined MIS to MSITM Program

  • After you have met with both Gili & Michelle and they both have determined you are eligible for this program based on the admissions requirements above, you will need to formally apply to the combined program by completing the admissions process at least one semester prior to the beginning of the M.S. in Information Technology and Management portion of their program.
    • You can formally apply for the Combined MIS to MSITM Program online via the FAU Graduate College website by clicking here: Apply Now
      • **Please note that when completing the application on the FAU Graduate College Website that you must**:
        1. Select the check box in the application that says you are "A current FAU student applying for a combined bachelor's/master's program
        2. Select the combined program from the drop-down menu in the application that says "Bachelor of Business Administration or Bachelor of Science (B.B.A. or B.S.) in Management Information Systems/Master of Science (M.S.) in Information Technology and Management with a concentration in Information Technology and Management" or "Bachelor of Business Administration or Bachelor of Science (B.B.A. or B.S.) in Management Information Systems/Master of Science (M.S.) in Information Technology and Management with a concentration in Business Analytics"
  • Current FAU students who are interested in the Combined Program but are either seniors or close to graduating still may be considered a case-by-case basis. Please meet with Gili & Michelle ASAP to see if you still would qualify for the Combined Program
  • Seniors or students who have already submitted an application for degree (i.e. your form to graduate) for your bachelor's degree are not eligible to apply for the program and should consider applying to the Traditional MSITM program instead.
